No Fronts

A 50 pts game of Warmachine Mk4 over War Table.

My list:

Master Necrotech Mortenebra & Deryliss
-Harrower
-Seether
-Slayer
-Deathripper

Mechanithralls +3x Brute Thrall
Necrosurgeon & Stitch Thralls
2x Necrotech
Machine Wraith

Opponent had:

Cygnar Storm Legion
Major Anson Wolfe
 +Onslaught, Force Hammer, Snipe

-Stryker with True Sight head, Voltaic Halberd, Heavy Mag-Bolter
-Courser with Arc Node head, Voltaic Spear, Electrified Shield

2x Stormguard Legionnaires with Standards
Arcane Mechaniks
Sharpshooter

Scenario was Two Fronts.

Second turn I did a Harrower + Lucky Penny Soul wraithshot thing to trigger overrun for Seether, who had Spectral Steel on. The thing charged to enemy 50mm marker, and mauled Stryker down to two health remaining, thanks to two rolls of only 4 with two dice. Well, at least someone was there contesting the 50mm marker.

Mechanithralls were just able to charge a unit of Legionnaires and remove half of them, the important bit being that they contested enemy 40mm.

Cygnar struggled to remove the Seether, but ultimately did so. Both units of Legionnaires removed half of Mechanithralls. Board state looked like an interesting battle might be coming up, but Cryx got two points from 50mm and 40mm markers, thus also claiming the two point bonus, while Cygnar only got one point - thus giving the win already for Mortenebra.

Perfected Principle Failure

A 50 pts game of Warmachine on War Table.

To shake things up a little I decided to try out Necrofactorium with my sort of favorite warcaster from past edition, Mortenebra. Throughout my fifteen years of writing this blog I don't think I have proxied an entire force I don't  own even once. I guess it was time to cross that threshold. I hope this doesn't force me to buy an additional starter just to keep my stats clean.

My list:

Cryx Necrofactorium
Mortenebra Perfected
-Malefactor with Harpoon, Ripping Claw and collector head.
-Malefactor with Dark Shroud, Plague Cannon and Helldriver
2x Mechanithrall Swarm
Necrosurgeon Initiates
Skarlock Lieutenant

Opponent had:

Cryx Dark Host
Bane Witch Agathia
-Reaper
-2x Deathripper
Bane Warriors with Officer
Bane Warriors
Bane Riders
Pistol Wraith

Scenario was Two Fronts, which split Necrofactorium forces as you'd expect. Both Malefactors were going for 50mm objectives, with Raptor shielding Mortenebra for  a bit in the middle.

Both units of Mechanithralls were going for the 40mm objectives, with the support dragging their feet behind.

Dark Host had Bane Riders and the bigger unit of Warriors going towards 50mm objectives, Agathia, Reaper and a Deathripper just about in the middle and the remainder were nearing 40mm's.

Dark Host had begun the game, and didn't quite commit just yet, except with Bane Riders who charged both of Mortenebra's heavies. Their accomplishments were meager, but so were the Malefactor that was assigned to kill them. Only one Bane Rider died even with full focus.

Fortunately Mortenebra and the other Malefactor did much better job at killing the Bane Warriors with command attachment. They managed to remove them in their entirety.

A unit of Mechanithralls tried to clog Cryxian warmachines by charging Reaper with a unit of Mechanithralls. They did enough damage to break systems despite Hellwrought... shame, that the damage went all into the wrong columns.

Another Mechanithrall unit decided to engage the second Bane Warrior unit that was too far to charge. Their main use was to contest 40mm objective.

Agathia had gone to control a 50mm marker, which I couldn't contest. Otherwise I claimed one point lead in scenario game.

However, Agathia then used feat to dislodge a Deathripper and Reaper from melee, and they along with a Bane Rider attacked Mortenebra who had only one focus for defense. Not a single attack roll failed, which proved to be too much even for Mortenebra's formidable stats.

You Reap What You Seethe

 A 50pts game of Warmachine Mk4.

My list:

Cryx Dark Host
Goreshade the Bastard & Deathwalker
-Nightmare
-Reaper
-Seether
Bane Warriors + Officer & Standard
Pistol Wraith

Opponent had:

Khador Winter Korps
Tatiana Sikora
-Great Bear with Aggressive, Battle Mace and Cannon Shield
2x Man-O-War wrecking Crew
Winter Korps Infantry
Sergeant Sergei Krol
2x Battle Mechanik

Scenario was Best Laid Plans where 50mm objectives were lost.

It was certainly a bummer that 50mm objectives went off when I had over 50% of my points on warjacks, but hey, such happens.

Khador went to caches with only Winter Korps Infantry, and I challenged them with Seether and Pistol Wraith.

Nightmare and Reaper were coming in from the middle, but were screened by a dense fog terrain. Goreshade and Deathwalker were going to take care of the flag terrain, while Bane Warriors were going to 40mm markers.

Khador had a group of Man-O-Wars and their Mechanik to the left, Winter Korps to the right and everything else in the middle.

Khador had started the game and tried to play it safe - but it was a little bit too safe. Bane Warriors were able to claim 40mm scenario point without anyone contesting.

Reaper shot a Man-O-War dead with harpoon, and Nightmare tried to keep Reaper's back.

Winter Korps Infantry tried to claim both caches on the right, but Seether ran to engage them. Pistol Wraith had been a tad too far from my claimable cache, so it just had to run next to it.

With Tatiana's feat Khador devastated both Reaper and Nightmare, leaving Goreshade staring at an uninjured khadoran heavy  warjack and two Man-o-War's. That looked like ouch time.

Winter Korps Infantry backed off, which in another situation might  have been a good move - after all, the six or so points managed to direct my 16 points away from the action.

Man-O-War's to the left engaged Bane Warrior, and that was pretty much the start of turn three.

Winter Korps Infantry had made kind of a blunder with the caches, and Pistol Wraith was able to claim two points, bringing the difference to three for Cryx.

Bane Warriors tried to remove a unit of Man-O-War's, but without a charge bonus one of them was left standing, contesting both 40mm objectives. Oh well. At least Goreshade was able to use his feat and run along with Deathwalker to get points from flag terrain. After feated Bane Warriors ran to contest enemy flag terrain, points difference was four for Cryx.

Khador tried to assassinate Goreshade, and that almost succeeded. Great Bear and two Man-O-Wars brought Goreshade down to two health remaining, with Deathwalker remaining.

Thus it was a scenario victory for Cryx.

Oriax vs Zahara

A 50 point game of Warmachine on War Table.

My list:

Oriax the Soul Slaver with Redline and Windstorm
-Molok
-Ravener
-Jackal with Arc Node, Dispel Mace and Claw
Assault Reavers + Standard
Grhotten Keeper
Reaver Commander

Cards: Careful Recon, Blessing of the Gods, Duck and Cover, Lucky Penny, Old Faithful

Opponent had:

Kapitan Zahara Vilkul with Avenging Force, Iron Flesh and Superiority
-2x Great Bear with Aggressive, Battle Mace, Heavy Cannon Shield
2x Winter Korps Autocannon Infantry + Standard
2x Winter Korps Officer

Cards: Blessing of the Gods, Careful Recon, For the Motherland, Lucky Penny, Old Faithful

Khador did a straightforward iron fist attack with heavies at the center and squishy infantry at the flanks. Iron Flesh went on one Great Bear, Superiority on the other.

Orgoth filled up Ravener, which was sent to handle 50mm objective. Assault Reavers screened Oriax and Molok. Reaver commander was hiding in the woods at 40mm marker, while Jackal and Grhotten Keeper were warming themselves up right behind burning cloud.

Much to my surprise Khador ditched scenario play altogether and jammed center with both infantry units. Great Bear with superiority was inside dense fog in the center, along with Zahara. Iron Fleshed Great Bear took cover behind burning terrain.

I tried to clear up a charge lane for Molok to get to superior Great Bear. My number of available attacks was relatively low, so I guess I should be happy that out of thirteen infantry models that were hanging around in the middle only five stood up after Oriax and his pals were done.

Jackal managed to critically dispel Iron Flesh from Great Bear, but he and Grhotten Keeper had to enter the burning terrain and take the continuous effect.

In the end, Reaver Commander failed to kill the one critical model that stood in the way of Molok's charge. Oriax had used feat, put Redline on Molok and moved him around by 2". However, Molok had to walk up to a Winter Korps grunt, smack him with abyssal mace and teleport to Great Bear. Khadoran jack was left with eight damage boxes remaining after Molok had used all of his attacks, so that one free charge could have been crucial. Oh well

Despite Star-Crossed Khador didn't have much of a trouble trashing both Molok and Jackal, but now Zahara looked available for assassination if Orgoth would be able to remove Winter Korps meatwall first.

Oriax went incorporeal and charged a Korpsman, took soul from it and teleported Ravener for a bit.

Molok had earlier possessed superior Great Bear to strike at Zahara, which had left the Khadoran warcaster with ten boxes remaining. Turned out that Ravener wasn't even needed - two Assault Reavers got to Zahara, did a combined melee attack and slapped exactly ten points in.

Victory for the Orgoth.

Is It Third Pandemonium Already

A 50 point game of Warmachine over War Table.

My list:

Kishtaar with Second Sight & Unnatural Darkness
-Jackal with Hunter Rifle, Assault Shield and Bloodthirst
-Tyrant with Belcher, Shield Cannon and Hunter head
Ulkor Barragers
Assault Reavers + standard
Warwitch Coven
Grhotten Keeper

Opponent had:

Ilari with Superiority and Avenging Force
-Medveditsa
-Dire Wolf with Long Axe, Plow Shield and Shield Guard
-Great Bear with Heavy Cannon, Blasting Fist and Slammer head
Winter Korps Infantry + Standard
Winter Korps Officer
Mortar Team

Well, the objectives that disappeared were to 50mm ones. Funny, huh? Both players had only, like, committed their entire battlegroup there.

Ulkor Barragers and Warwitches were going left to 40mm objectives, and Assault Reavers to secure caches. Khador wasn't really contesting the caches, and the only model on that front (Korps Officer) went towards center terrain objective instead.

Since Khador started they were in range to take the first shots. Rocketeers downed to Ulkor Barragers, and both Dire Wolf and Medveditsa charged at Assault Reavers in one heck of an overkill.

Kishtaar pretty much wasted her feat, although I suppose units were too spread out to capitalize on it anyway. Kishtaar was able to kill Winter Korps officer, denying Khador objective point on second turn.

The lone Ulkor was able to get close enough to contest Orgoth 40mm marker, and mostly managed to clear Winter Korps Infantry unit with help from Tyrant's belcher. Only mostly, though. Two managed to pass their tough rolls at a crucial moment, so they were left alive to score Khador's 40mm objective.

Orgoth still did get the point lead from picking up cache, but... that was pretty much the game.

Superiority and feat move from Ilari easily brought the now MAT 10 Medveditsa within 1" of Kishtaar who had one focus point for damage blocks.

Game over.

Waving a flag

A 50 point game of Warmachine on War Table.

My list:

Horruskh with Inviolable Resolve and Windstorm
-Ravener
-Tyrant with Relentless Charge, Shield and flail
Ulkor Barragers
Strike Reavers + Standard
Warwitch Sirens

Command cards: Careful Reconnaissance, Infiltration, Old Faithful, Power Swell, True Inspiration

Opponent had:

Cryx Dark Host
Bane Witch Agathia
-Desecrator
-4x Deathripper
-2x Ripjaw
Bane Warriors
Pistol Wraith
Necrotech

Command cards: Old Faithful, Blessing of Gods, Breakthrough, Infiltration, Power Swell

We were playing a Steamroller 2023 scenario. Cryx started, with Nanes and three bonejacks to the left, Pistol Wraith and remaining three bonejacks to the right, and Desecrator, Necrotech and Agathia in the middle. Agathia had cast Hellwrought on Desecrator.

Orgoth had Ravener rampage through the woods to my side flag, with Strike Reavers in the middle behind an impassable tower. Tyrant and Horruskh were there too. Horrusk gave Inviolable Resolve for Strike Reavers. Ulkor Barragers closed in from the left.

Desecrator shot at ARM 19 Strike Reavers. It was a direct hit, but damage didn't penetrate that armor. Howeer, two out of three blast damage rolls somehow succeeded at that. Go figure?

Everything opponent had on the left packed themselves to trenches. Pistol Wraith claimed flag, and the bonejacks there started to pivot to center.

It was time for Horruskh's feat now. Remaining Strike Reavers got Tough from command card, walked near centerpoint and started shooting a Ripjaw that was hiding behind the tower. They managed to do some damage, but the kill shot was made by Tyrant's shield cannon.

Horruskh put up Wind Storm and went to control a flag.

Ravener advanced behind Strike Reavers. Ulkor Barragers managed to kill Necrotech, but they also triggered Hellwrought with unfavorable tradeoff for Orgoth.

Ulkor Barragers were killed easily enough after Agathia arced Parasite on them. As an added bonus, Desecrator certainly had a thing going on with blast damage rolls in this game. Two Bane Warriors were removed by the finalizing shot made by Desecrator.

The flock of bonejacks continued to swarm the circular zone, leaving the right side with only incorporeal Pistol Wraith scoring points. However, Ulkor Barragers had been my only models contesting circular zone, so Cryx took the lead in scenario.

Since I had not hired enough solos to control flags, Horruskh was stuck at Orgoth flag. At least he had Fate-Blessed to support his team.

Strike Reavers went to contest circular zone and shoot at bonejacks, dealing random damage points here and there. With some help from Reavers, Tyrant was able to remove remaining Bane Warriors.

Ravener charges Pistol Wraith with fell cleaver, destroys the ghost and goes berserk on Cryx objective. Thus, Orgoth took lead in scenario.

While Agathia did respectable job personally killing Strike Reavers, the flock of bonejacks and Desecrator didn't fare as well against Tyrant. Although that was probably thanks to Agathia missing her boosted Parasite against Def 11 target.

This gave me quite of a lead in scenario play, as now I was able to contest the circular zone with Ravener. Unfortunately Tyrant wasn't able to thin the number of enemy models, well, at all. Not even when Warwitches were supporting with Dark Shroud.

It was already turn five, so even if I was leading with points, I didn't think my models would last long enough to actually give me even scenario victory.

This time Tyrant went down with ease, as Agathia cast Parasite on it for good measure. Bonejacks tried to kill any Warwitches they could find. They missed one.

Another Deathripper wasn't enough to challenge Ravener, but it blocked its way to reach Agathia. With the aid of some finger maths, I reckoned Ravener and a singular Warwitch would have to survive for a one full round to give me scenario victory - or kill Agathia now.

Horruskh tried to blow Deathripper that was engaging Ravener away with Thunder Strike. Despite melee bonus, the spell hit and Ravener was free to get blocked by another damn Deathripper. No matter how I tried, there just wasn't a way to get to Agathia. So, the monstrosity just wrecked the bonejack and started to pray.

Its prayers went unanswered. In fact, the Ravener took absolutely horrendous damage rolls in. It almost looked like last Warwitch from coven would be the one to defy odds, but now. Last possible attack made another Deathripper sealed her deal, and Horruskh started his sixth turn with only him remaining.

For a while I had been four points above Cryx in scenario game, so now Horruskh just needed to survive, or opponent would have to score four points. So, Horruskh cast Inviolable Resolve on himself, went hiding behind a flag and waved it... not to surrender, but to taunt.

A couple of Hellfires just weren't enough to kill undamaged Horruskh with five focus for damage blocks, so it was a tiebreaker victory for Orgoth.

Well that escalated quickly

A 50 point game of Warmachine on War Table.

My list:

Cryx Blackfleet
Captain Aiakos
-Reaper
-Slayer
-Deathripper
Satyxis Raiders + Sea Witch
Ogrun Party Pirates
Ogrun Ironmongers
Satyxis Blood Witch

Opponent had:

Cryx Unlimited

Iron Lich Asphyxious
-2x Desecrator
-2x Deathripper
2x Bane Warriors
Pistol Wraith

Well, this just might be shortest Warmachine game post in a while.

There wasn't much nuance to the fight - Asphyxious misjudged 9" walk from Reaper + 10" range. Only a single Bane Warrior had to be cleared from between the lane Reaper with Careful Reconnaissance and enemy warcaster that had zero focus. Turn 2 caster kill.

But They're Just Cannons

A 50 point game of Warmachine on War Table.

My list:

Kishtaar with Wind Storm & Inviolable Resolve
- Ravener
- Jackal with Advance Deployment, Clawed Fist and Hunter Rifle
- Jackal with Advance Deployment, Heavy Bolter and Hunter Rifle
Ulkor Barragers
Assault Reavers & Standard

Opponent had:

Ilari Borisyuk with Avenging Force and Something
- 3x Dire Wolf with Evasive, Cannon and Scrap Saw
Sergeant Lazarenko
Sergeant Sergei Krol
2x Winter Korps Infantry with Rocketeers & Standard

Scenario was Recon from Steamroller 2024.

Khador started, and their formation was rather symmetrical one. Infantry Korps at flanks, warjacks and warcaster kind of there in the middle, and sergeants were supporting the infantry units, Krol on the left and Lazarenko to the right.

Orgoth hid a Jackal, Ulkor Barragers and Ravener behind a forest, another Jackal and Warwitch Coven to the left and Assault Reaver unit going into Dust Devil objective terrain, getting stealth from a command card.

And Kishtaar. Well. Yeah. I realized I had no good target for Inviolable Resolve either in range, or even in the list, she just cast Wind Storm and ran to objective. Whoo boy. Not to self: check those threat ranges once in a while.

So, despite Wind Storm, a Dire Wolf was able to charge nine points of health off of Kishtaar. Ouch.

Other Dire Wolves were less successful in their endeavors, and one of the Jackals only took a few points of damage.

Ilari and Lazarenko were proccing their Prowl inside of a batch of tall grass, Lazarenko claiming the 30mm objective. Infantry Korps unit to the right played Stealth on them to offer some protection against harpoons of Assault Reavers.

The other Winter Korps unit went to secure enemy flag terrain along with Sergeant Krol.

On my turn, first models to activate were Ulkor Barragers that removed half of Winter Korps from the left, as well a few boxes off from centermost Dire Wolf.

Then, thanks to my interesting choice with Kishtaar's placement, she was now in a bad place. She did use her feat, cast +2" range spell, shot with a Jackal and spent her own shots at the centermost Dire Wolf, but could not wreck it. She had zero focus points, again. At least Power Swell gave one.

However, I did not consider that enough of a protection. Jackal with ranged attacks only had to spent its entire payload against the Dire Wolf, and even then got it only down to one hit point remaining. There were no other attacks I had available, so Rifle-Claw Jackal had to spent its feat shot against the Khadoran heavy at one health remaining. Both Jackals formed a wall of steel to block LoS to Kishtaar, and the ranged-only version even had Shield Guard card played on it.

Assault Reavers went to shoot Infantry Korps to the right. Being their Prey target, four models able to attack reduced the number of Korps by equal amount while still controlling flag zone.

Well, Ilari had his feat turn, and Beat Back on Dire Wolf cannons were able to open up LoS for both Dire Wolves during Hour of the Wolf. Fortunately Ilari had been spending his time shooting at Assault Reavers for secured feat procs, so his sniper shots downed only two of those. Remainder of Winter Korps in the right took out a third Assault Reaver.

First Dire Wolf shot against Kishtaar was shield-guarded by Jackal, but the other one was not. Damage roll, however, was not enough to end the game. She now had three hit points remaining.

Winter Korps on the left were able to seriously injure Shield-Guarding Jackal - so much so, that it only had about two boxes remaining in Movement.

But hey, game continued. Did Kishtaar learn her lesson yet? Oh no, why would she! She just kept shooting at a Dire Wolf, killing of Sergeant Lazarenko with ricochet shots. She was, again, left with just one Focus for damage block. Oh well.

Ulkor Barragers went to pick up cache and killed all but one Winter Korps on the left. I had tried to repair broken Jackal with Old Faithful, but rolled a beautiful "1" for the amount. War Witches gave two points of focus for it, and one for the still functional Jackal.

Broken Jackal killed the last Winter Korps on the left, which meant Khadoran flag terrain was no longer controlled. Ulkors were also blocking enemy 30mm objective.

Assault Reavers retreated to Orgothian flag terrain zone, and Orgoth went to have four point advantage in scenario thanks to an off-point gained earlier.

However, Kishtaar still had to survive a grenade pod barrage from Sergeant Krol and a fully boosted cannon shot from Dire Wolf. Big cannon missed, and so did the little cannons. We ended the game there, as scoring two while denying me every point was unlikely with the forces currently on board. Victory for Orgoth.

Guess Who Just Got a Promotion

A 50 point game of Warmachine over War Table.

My list:

Oriax the soul Slaver
-Molok
-Ravener
Assault Reavers & Standard
Gnashers
Halexus the Warlord

Opponent had:

Khador Winter Korps
-Great Bear with Slam, Heavy Cannon and Blasting Fist
-2x Dire Wolves with Evasive, Ice Hammer and Scrap Saw
Shock Trooper Gunners
Winter Korps Infantry, 2x Auto Cannon, Standard
Winter Korps Infantry, 2x Rocketeer

For once my army was not hopelessly outnumbered. It was only outnumbered in all fronts. Khador had three heavies versus my two, and three infantry units versus my three. Oh, wait, I had one solo while Khador had zero.

And what a solo that was.

Khador started. Zahara and both Dire Wolves claimed top-left rectangular zone, while Great Bear, rocketeer unit and Shock Troopers were pushing through a bottleneck in the middle. Autocannon unit was skulking near enemy flag, threatening my rectangular zone with at least contesting.

Halexus claimed my flag, and Assault Reavers were taking cover in craters partly inside the center circular zone. Molok got Inviolable Resolve, and Oriax hid behind the character warjack. Ravener hid in forest, going to score my rectangular zone.

Khador just kept advancing, Zahara and Wolves protected by the forest at left. Oriax had cast Windstorm, so Khador's ranged targets were somewhat limited. Still, the Rocketeer unit lunged forward and started shooting Assault Reavers in craters. They actually killed two of them with direct hits.

Great Bear went contesting circular zone, with Shock Trooper Gunners backing it up. Autocannons went somewhere in between circular zone and my rectangular zone without contesting either. However, they were in a rather well defended spot.

Ravener had easy time collecting points from my rectangular zone. But then I had a decision to make. Should Halexus keep the flag, or go on a rampage?

Why, rampage of course! You don't win games by earning points, now, do you? And surely enough Halexus got his prime target - closely packed infantry formation. He absolutely massacred those, and still had three souls after he was done. Whoa. He was also contesting Khadoran rectangular zone.

Unfortunately I had called Gnashers from ambush. To at least do something with those, they just went to engage Zahara and a Dire Wolf, so opponent might have some trouble clearing the zone entirely.

Assault Reavers picked Shock Trooper Gunners as their next prey, but they managed to kill only two of them.

Oriax used feat and loaded up Ravener and Molok. He also cast Star Crossed, which was completely forgotten about. Oh well... At least Molok set itself on fire and killed two khadoran infantrymen.

Gnashers... were just removed. It only took Zahara and Dire Wolf to do that, so one Dire Wolf was free to kill Halexus. It looked all but inevitable when first attack critically froze Halexus. And yet, after Khador passed turn, Halexus was still standing. Those damage rolls were absurd.

Great Bear and last remaining Shock Trooper Gunner only removed three Assault Reavers. Those guys were really pushing their luck. My objective, however, did not do so well after autocannons destroyed it. So, points went even.

Orgoth reprisal was brutal. Those souls really make things happen. Ravener gobbled up three souls, and Oriax made himself incorporeal and charged last remaining contestant from my rectangular zone. Halexus was thawing, while Assault Reaver killed lone Gunner still on the center zone. And Molok, well, that beast tear Great Bear to pieces in just one activation. And because Halexus was still contesting enemy rectangular zone, Orgoth received two point lead.

So, Khador started their fourth turn. Dire Wolf proceeded finally to smash Halexus off the board... and still did not do that. However, that was because of Tough roll. Zahara used enough velocity to lend her axe to Halexus' cerebellum, and the pesky solo was finally over.

Another Dire Wolf had to go to engage center zone and try to wreck Molok with some amazing rolls. While damage was okay, it did not break any systems. Orgoth remained leading by two points.

Next, however, Orgoth did a daring operation. Molok used Break Through and walked away from melee with Dire Wolf, engaging  enemy rectangular zone. So, it had to destroy Wolf and contest for me to win game this turn.

However, four strength 19 attacks just were not enough to remove a Khadoran heavy even if that heavy was the slightly lighter variant.

Last Assault Reaver activated and decided to lob his harpoon at the heavy that had lost it's movement. It was engaged in melee and had concealment. Essentially Rat 5 vs Def 11. It was a hit, and double sixes came up as the damage roll. That was more than enough to score center zone. Oriax went to enemy flag, while Ravener stayed in my rectangular zone for a 5 point difference for Orgoth.

Zaharasheth

A 50 point game of Warmachine over War Table.

My list:

Skorne Unlimited
Dominar Rasheth
-Titan Sentry
-Rhinodon
-Basilisk Krea
Praetorian Swordsmen
Paingiver Beast Handlers
Void Spirit
Venator Dakar
Mortitheurge Willbreaker

Command cards: Blessing of the Gods, Break Through, Careful Reconnaissance, Infiltration, Power Swell

Opponent had:

Khador Winter Korps
Kapitan Zahara Vilkul, Avenging Force, Fog of War, Superiority
-Dire Wolf with Shield Guard, Ice Hammer, Scrap Saw
-Great Bear with Slammer, Heavy Cannon, Blasting Fist
Shock Trooper Gunners
Winter Korps Infantry + 2x Autocannon + Standard
Winter Korps Infantry + 2x Rocketeer + Standard
Arkanists
Winter Korps Officer
Battle Mechanik

Command cards: Infiltration, Old Faithful, Power Swell, Careful Reconnaissance, Break Through

Scenario was Two Fronts from Steamroller 2024.

Khador started game and advanced under Fog of War, with battlegroup and assorted support going towards 50mm objectives. Shock Trooper Gunners were there in the middle, too, and two units of Winter Korps and their Officer to the left.

Skorne started with Praetorian Swordsmen to the left, supported by Mortitheurge Willbreaker and Void Spirit. Swordsmen had Castigate on them. It looked like a tall order for five Swordsmen to remove thirteen Winter Korps, but I was seriously outnumbered anyway. Go, heroes, go.

Venator was exactly 6" away from 30mm objective, and battlegroup was sitting within 3" of Basilisk Krea, with Krea being fully in cover.

So that was the setting after first round. Second round Winter Korps advanced behind a forest, outside Praetorian charge range.

Shock Trooper Gunners repositioned to middle inside rubble terrain. Arkanists took positions inside a trench and around 50mm objective, with heavy warjacks nearby. No shots were fired, from Khadoran side, except for Shock Trooper Gunners. Well, kind of.

Dominar Rasheth cast Influence on one of them, blasting the other two and finished the last guy with Sunder Spirit.

Flesh-Hardened Praetorian Swordsmen ean to engage Winter Korps infantry in a bit of a suicide mission. Void Spirit that had been used as an arc node stood nearby. Venator took the flag in middle. Battlegroup tried to take as defensive a position as possible, but damn were they afraid and starved of threat range without Titan Gladiator. Do your worst, Zahara!

Well, they shot Praetorian Swordsmen and Void Spirit off the board. Nothing else, though, so it could have certainly been worse. However, Zahara rolled full six cloud effects, thus being able to cover his entire contingent of troops on the right side.

Bad news? My "heavy" hitters would still not be able to reach any targets, and western flank was pretty much lost.

I decided to stall for a turn, waiting for a better opening. Mortitheurge Willbreaker ran to contest my 40mm objective. Titan Sentry and Rhinodon walked a little forward, shielded by Basilisk Krea. Paingiver Beast Handlers sacrificed themselves to land Blood Mark on Great Bear and kill each and every Arkanist with a ritualized Breath of Corruption.

Mortitheurge was removed easily enough and both 40mm objectives were lost. Zahara killed last Beast Handler and cycloned to relative safety of a trench. Both Khadoran warjacks were able to charge Titan Sentry, failing to kill it.

While that was a slight boon, situation was terrible for Skorne anyhow. Having sacrificed the damage boost of Paingivers, I decided to go for assassination. Fortunately Rhinodon was well within charge range of enemy warcaster that was at zero focus points. Whoopsie!

Rasheth used his feat and tried to connect Blood Mark and Sunder Spirit on Zahara, but there was a trench in the way. Even Krea attempted to paralyze the Khadoran warcaster, but failed. So, it was up for a carnivorous Rhinodon to win Rasheth the game.

Initial charge attack with tail scored a respectable amount of damage, dropping Zahara down to three hit points remaining. First claw attack missed, but last one did hit naturally. Even double 1's killed the target, so, it was a victory for Skorne.

Scenario was Recon. Once I put my list on table, I realized the staggering disparity in our model counts. Maybe I shouldn't have used a 17 point heavy. Oh well. At least I had the durability on my side.

I left Gnashers in ambush and with them I tried to tie up a unit of Riflemen on the left. Apparently I ambushed them a turn too soon, as far as I know they can spring up earliest on turn two. But hey, in my defense - I was the second player!

Khador had their heavies and warcaster in the middle, and the remainder of the force on the right.

Horruskh and Halexus had good positions behind a building with 30mm obstacle. Grhotten Keeper and warjacks were going down from the middle, with Warwitch Coven on top of a hill.

This time around opponent got good mileage out of Ilari's feat. Winter Korps on left disengaged inside objective forest and the entire unit scored a meager four points of damage to Gnashers. But then Ilari activated... and Gnashers were promptly removed.

Well, at least that took away feat and activations of both heavies. Remainder of Khador troops didn't really accomplish anything.

So, it was time for a counter-feat. Grhotten Keeper charged a sniper and managed to kill it. Tyrant rolled a whopping four shots and removed two Shock Trooper Gunners. But yeah... that was it. Both warjacks took hiding in a trench, with a couple of Warwitches nearby contesting my objective building. I had chosen such a center terrain piece because I thought I would not be able to stretch my forces around that much...

It took both heavies and all of Ilari's focus points to remove the Arm 23 Grhotten from contesting enemy 30mm objective, but darn it, it succeeded. A unit of Winter Korps Riflemen from right took a flanking position and shot two Warwitches off the board.

It was time for desperate measures. Remaining Warwitch went to cover Khadoran warjacks with Dark Shroud skill, and Tyrant with Inviolable Resolve charged for a thresher strike. Sadly the Warwitch died even with a re-roll from Horruskh. I had played Savagery on Tyrant, so it was able to deny heals for both warjacks. However, damage rolls were on the lower side. Had Warwitch survived, Great Bear would have lost both of its hands, but as it stood, only cannon had gone.

Jackal tried a desperate attempt to shoot both jacks and a Sniper with a flamethrower, but this amounted to no damage other than the Sniper dying. Well, at least I still had some chances with good fire damage rolls, right?

Horruskh had gone down to zero focus points because of re-rolls, so he had to get out of sight. Halexus entered trench to contest my flagged building.

Opponent had taken lead in control points. I was mildly hopeful because of Old Faithful - even if Arm 21 Tyrant took a beating, he might still be able to kill Great Bear and maybe do something against Dire Wolf.

However... those damage rolls! First 13, then 14, then 18, then 15 and then again 13 on three dice. No hope for Tyrant surviving that, or even Jackal for that matter.

Well, actually Jackal did survive, but was tagged with no heals from Ilari, and only both hand operational.

Halexus died to a full Combined Ranged Attack by Winter Korps Riflemen from right, and, well, that was that. We ended game, situation was so hopeless for Horruskh.

Who's the Banest of Them All?

A 50 point game of Warmachine over War Table.

My list:

Cryx Unlimited
Venethrax
- Desecrator
- Harrower
- Deathripper
Bane Warriors & Attachment
Scharde Ogrun Ironmongers
Warwitch Siren
Skarlock

Command cards: Gravedigger, Blessing of the Gods, Break Through, Old Faithful, Power Swell

Opponent had:

Cryx Dark Host
Bane Witch Agathia
- 3x Slayer
- Deathripper
2x Bane Warrior units
Pistol Wraith
Necrotech

Command cards: Infiltration, Power Swell, Old Faithful, Careful Reconnaissance, Break Through

Scenario was Payload.

First two turns Venethrax's army just ran forward, Desecrator and Banest on the left, with Venethrax and Ironmongers in the middle. Both solos and Deathripper were on the right, with Harrower repositioning there to help them for a bit.

Opponent had launched his slayers against Desecrator and Banes. He wanted to make his warjacks incorporeal with Agathia's feat, but both Banes chosen for that managed to pass their Tough checks, and even Desecrator was left alive with a couple of damage points remaining.

It looked pretty bad for Agathia, but somehow Cryx warjacks - no matter the side - were not living up to their damage potential standards. First Bane Warriors charged Slayer that had Hellwrought on, and while they managed to hit respectably - I think two out of three did that - their charge damage rolls were abysmal. Non-charging attacks versus another Slayer engaging Desecrator didn't do any better.

Desecrator managed to bring Slayer down to a couple of damage boxes, but that just wasn't enough. Venethrax had to charge in and deliver the warjack from its misery. This left him in a subpar position... at least when there were opposing Bane Warriors involved! He kept a four focus in camp, just in case.

Harrower charged to Slayer on the right, and managed to take down two enemy Bane Warriors with a Thresher attack. Damage to the warjack was actually on the higher end, but Agathia was able to bring the thing fully functional with Old Faithful.

The now-repaired Slayer and remaining enemy Banes were able to wreck Harrower entirely. On the left, opponent wen all-in with assassination. Agathia landed Parasite on Venethrax, and the remaining Slayer trampled over a couple of my Warriors, not doing much. Five Bane Warriors charged, though. They needed 9's to hit, and two of them exceeded that roll. Damage rolls were stressful, and my warcaster was left with three health remaining after just two attacks. Fortunately nothing was able to score further hits, although Pistol Wraith certainly tried.

This left opponent dragging behind in scenario points - Venethrax now had a lead of two.

It took combined efforts of Venethrax, Desecrator and Bane Warriors and even Scharde Ogrun Ironmongers to destroy Slayer and enemy banes from the right, but that was a devastating blow to Agathia. On the right, Warwitch Siren was able to spray one enemy flag terrain scoring Bane dead, and while Deathripper wasn't able to destroy Slayer there, the helljack no longer had functional cortex.

In total, Venethrax took a four point lead on that turn, and Agathia didn't stand a chance to catch that.

Venethrax had healed back to five health remaining, and Agathia's best shot was to throw a fully boosted Hellfire against him. First, Pistol Wraith tried to chill Venethrax, but trying to get a ten twice in a row was a tall order. Hellfire also missed, and we ended the game there in Venethrax's victory.

Oriax vs Ilari

A 50 point game of Warmachine over War Table website.

My list:

Orgoth Sea Raiders
Oriax the Soul Slaver
-Ravener
-Jackal with Arc Node, Hunter Rifle and Pneumatic Spike
-Jackal with Arc Node, Pole Arm and Assault Shield
Gnashers
Assault Reavers
Grhotten Keeper

Opponent had:

Khador Winter Korps
Ilari
-Dire Wolf with Evasive, Bombard and Plow Shield
-Great Bear with Reposition, Heavy Cannon and Blasting Fist
Shock Trooper Gunners
Winter Korps Infantry with 2x Auto Cannon & Standard
Winter Korps Infantry with 2x Rocket Launcher & Standard
2x Battle Mechanik

Scenario was Wolves at our heels.

Khador started game. They had autocannon Korps at the left objective, another going towards their cache and my 40mm objective. Warjacks and warjacks were lumbering through a forest next to Khador deployment, just about in the middle. Shock Trooper Gunners were sitting behind forest.

Orgoth had low model count from the get go. Most numerous Assault Reavers were holding my 40mm objective - a choice I'd later regret.

Oriax kept went into hiding behind a house with Windstorm up. Shielded Jackal variant had a lot on its shoulders - it was the only non-warcaster model from Orgoth going towards center-right. Another Jackal, Ravener and Grhotten Keeper were diving past the building from left. Gnashers were hugging for concealment and cover in Tall Grass far-left.

Windstorm covered Orgoth forces rather nicely, but most Assault Reavers were outside of it. This gave an oppoerunity for Rocket Launcher Korps to snipe the unit. Three out of five, gone.

Great Bear was able to dent shielded Jackal a little, but other than that there was no damage done. Dire Wolf went to contest both 50mm objectives with Great Bear behind a crater in the middle. Mechaniks and Shock Troopers were there as overseen by Ilari in the bushes.

Auto Cannon Korps were happy just controlling their 40mm objective.

It was time for Oriax to change into Star Crossed.

Since Assault Reavers had made such a poor job at thinning down the Rocket Launcher Korps, Oriax tried to offer his help by taking at least one of them down with Icy Grip.

Grhotten Keeper and Ravener had to advance to contest one of center objectives. Ravener had gone within easy walking distance of Dire Wolf. I was more afraid of the thing than I should have, as its melee capabilities weren't that big of a deal.

Rifle Jackal managed to shoot down one Mechanik, and Gnashers continued to find their way towards enemy 40mm marker.

My foresight had been way off, as Dire Wolf attempted to slam Oriax. While the Wolf had Superiority cast on it, hitting a Def 15 target behind an obstacle under Star Crossed wasn't easy. In fact, it failed.

Unfortunately Rocket Launcher Korps were able to remove last two Assault Reavers, thus claiming my objective for themselves in the coming turns.

Great Bear tried to take a shot at Oriax, although that shot was essentially impossible.

While Gnashers had concealment, Auto Cannon Korps had aiming bonus. They managed to fell two of the berserkers, and Ilari came to snipe off the last one. Yay. I only had Oriax to control 40mm objectives now.

Jackal that had gone to contest center-right objective had to relocate to beat Rocket Launcher Korps.

Oriax removed Superiority with Hex Blast and cast Star Crossed. Ravener walked to block LoS to Oriax as well as it could, and then wrecked Dire Wolf, even having focus to spare after that.

Grhotten Keeper was able to run to contest opponent's 40mm marker, so at least Wolves at the Heels extra points were thus denied. Rifle Jackal failed to kill contesting Battle Mechanic from center-left objective, leaving Orgoth a point behind on scenario.

Great Bear attempter to slam rifle Jackal away from center-left objective, but again Star Crossed ruined the slam.

Last remaining Rocket Launcher Korps ran to control my 40mm objective, after which Shock Trooper Gunners made their lethal debut in the battle. After six barrels, shielded Jackal was no more.

Grhotten was far tougher nut to crack. Even after a 6,6 damage roll and a sniper shot from Ilari the thing was still contesting enemy objective, although with only five health remaining.

Orgoth were struggling, as in scenario Khador had two points over Orgoth.

Oriax was able to kill the two Rocket Launcher Korps with a Hex Blast. However, Jackal and Ravener were not able to wreck Great Bear, which essentially dropped Orgoth out of the game.

Khador was able to secure three points next turn, so all I could attempt was a lucky shot against Ilari. Ilari was essentially Def 18, Arm 19 and sixteen health target for a meager Rat 5, Pow 13 Hunter Rifle meaning Jackal would need astronomical rolls to kill Ilari.

The shot barely hit - but it did hit. With critical brutal damage. And damage roll was, in fact, stellar! But, it was not astronomical. Ilari was left with four health remaining, and Orgoth lost to scenario.

Some soaked fabric

A 50 point game of Warmachine Mk4 over War Table.

My list:

Horruskh, The Thousand Wraths
-Inviolable Resolve, Hex Blast

Jackal 1
-Arc Node, Hunter Rifle, Clawed Fist

Jackal 2
-Bloodthirst, Flamethrower, Pneumatic Spike

Tyrant
- Relentless Charge, Shredder, Claw

Assault Reavers + Standard
Strike Reavers + Standard
Warwitch Coven

Command Cards: Infiltration, Old Faithful, Power Swell, Sentry Duty, True Inspiration

Opponent had:

Kapitan Ilari Borisyuk
-Avenging Force, Superiority

Dire Wolf
- Evasive, Long Axe, Plow-Shield

Great Bear
-Slammer, Battle Mace, Blasting Fist

2x Battle Mechanik
Arkanists
Shock Trooper Gunners
Winter Korps Infantry  + 2x Rocketeer & Standard
Winter Korps Infantry + 2x Auto Cannon

Command cards: Break Through, Careful Reconnaissance, Infiltration, Old Faithful, Power Swell

Steamroller 2024 scenario. Khador started and advanced with Auto Cannon group from the left, and Shock Trooopers plus Rocketeers from the right. Everything else spearheaded from the middle, with Superiority cast on Dire Wolf.

Assault Reavers went to greet Auto Cannon Korps, holding position behind scenario house. Strike Reavers were holding line in the middle, with arc node Jackal and Tyrant with Inviolable Resolve a little behind. Forest on the right masked Warwitch Coven. Flamethrower Jackal ran deep to the forest, ready to fry some Shock Troopers and Rocketeers.

Second turn Great Bear relocated to contest scenario terrain in case Auto Cannon Korps wouldn't be enough.

Dire Wolf, Shock Troopers and Rocketeers and Arcanists all stormed right, managing to shoot all but one Strike Reaver and the flag down. Pity, since Horruskh's feat was coming next.

Despite Auto Cannon Korps being Assault Reaver's prey target, Reavers were able to remove only three of them. Scenario terrain was left unsecured.

War Witches had loaded up Orgoth warjacks. Hunter Rifle Jackal shot one Mechanik off the board. Flamethrower Jackal walked out of the woods, shocking one Shock Trooper by setting him on fire, and killing the second Mechanik behind Dire Wolf.

Tyrant made a slight overkill with pow 16 shredder cannon by shooting a single Arcanist. That one was contesting center-left objective, though, and I wanted to score control points.

Turn three Great Bear charged Horruskh anyway while Ilari kept sniping Orgoth warcaster. Attack rolls weren't that impressive, so game did not end.

Dire Wolf mauled Jackal and Rocketeers shot at the thing, but failed to destroy the light warjack thanks to +3 armor from Horruskh.

Remaining two Shock Troopers, however, removed what was left of Strike Reavers with ease.

Orgoth turn started, and there was Great Bear that required attention.

Assault Reavers killed remaining Auto Cannon Korps and tossed their flag into acid bath for that -1 Arm aura. War Witches came to help with Dark Shroud. Horruskh managed to wreck the Great Bear, and even have focus left for damage mitigation. He used Vanish to get to safer position.

Tyrant didn't do much to superior Dire Wolf, but at least one Shock Trooper died to gore attack.

I took a two point lead.

Fourth turn I decided to try to go for scenario victory. Remaining Assault Reavers went to take center-left objective, while arc node Jackal and Horruskh went to take scenario terrain to the left. Tyrant kept flailing Dire Wolf fruitlessly, but by now it just needed to buy time.

And surely enough, Khador Winter Korps were not able to contest all my point scoring areas and get two points themselves in the process. Was it first victory for Horruskh? Not sure.

Infiltraitor

A 50 point game of Warmachine on War Table.

My list:

Horruskh, The Thousand Wraths
Spell rack: Inviolable Resolve, Second Sight
10          Jackal 1, Arc Node, Hunter Rifle, Assault Shield
7           Jackal 2, Bloodthirst, Mace, Assault Shield
17          Molok

3           Reaver Commander
7+2       Strike Reavers &  Reaver Standard
4           Warwitch Coven

Command Cards: Careful Reconnaissance, Grave Robbing , Infiltration, Old Faithful, True  Inspiration

Opponent had:

Khador - Winter Korps
Kapitan Ilari Borisyuk
Spell Rack: - Avenging Force, Fog of War
11          Dire Wolf, Pathfinder, Long Axe, Plow-Shield
14          Great Bear, Reposition, Heavy Cannon, Blasting Fist

2+2   2x    Battle Mechanik
7       Shock Trooper Gunners
6+1       Winter Korps Infantry, 2x Rocketeer & Standard
6+1       Winter Korps Infantry, 2x Auto-Cannon & Standard

Command Cards: Blessing of the Gods, Break Through, Careful Reconnaissance, Infiltration, Old Faithful

Scenario was Invasion

Khador started and advanced with a unit of Winter Korps on both flanks, with everything else in between. Ilari cast Fog of War and Avenging Force.

Horruskh cast Inviolable Resolve on Molok and Second Sight on Jackal with rifle.
Melee Jackal was almost the sole contender to zone on the right. Horruskh, Molok and Jackal with rifle were in the middle, with Strike Reavers and their solo advancing behind a forest. Molok also played Grave Robbers already

Khador wasn't able to do much else than positioning next. Great Bear that went to contest rectangular zone missed its cannon on Reaver Commander, but Ilari was able to snipe that solo off. Winter Korps unit went to contest circular zone one left with half of their strength, with Shock Troopers backing them up in a trench nearby.

Dire Wolf went to contest circular zone on the right, supported by Auto-Cannon group of Winter Korps and a singular Mechanik.

Orgoth also wasn't in a position to dish out that much damage, but it was in position to endure it. Strike Reavers popped True Inspiration on them, walked into the forest and managed to kill one of the three contesting Winter Korps.

Molok and ranged Jackal were filled with focus by Warwitches, and Molok took Pathfinder card to charge a single Winter Korpsman. It certainly died to a 17-point beatstick with three focus. The grunt became a +3def buff for Molok.

Ranged Jackal shot the last contesting Winter Korps, thus giving Orgoth point advantage.

Horrusks used his feat, turning that Molok into a dreadful Def 14, Arm 24 monstrosity that cannot be knocked down!

Melee Jackal just went to contest circular zone, staying within charge range of Dire Wolf. I wanted to believe my light warjack would be able to take some Long Axe into face with Arm 22.

Khador turn was painful to watch. That +3 armor messed up a lot of things, when opponent's highest rolls were just about the average. Dire Bear was able to deal a few points of damage to melee Jackal, but not enough to destroy systems. Shock Troopers were able to kill two Strike Reavers - that's it. No more killing today, folks.

Warwitches filled melee Jackal and ranged Jackal with focus, and went to Dark Shroud the Dire Wolf. Jackal wasn't able to do much, especially considering that there was a Mechanik nearby. Even if it had hit with all of its attack, I doubt systems would have broken anyway, because I rolled columns poorly.

Molok removed two Winter Korpsmen that had ran to block easy access within 1" of Great Bear. That probably saved Great Bear, because even five P+S 18 attacks that all hit, plus a POW 13 rifle shot and whatever Strike Reavers were able to do didn't bring the bear down.

I didn't consider Horruskh was in that bad of a position, and so didn't even consider playing Infiltrate on him.

Then... Old Faithful repairs Great Bear for five. On its activation Great Bear also uses Breakthrough to gain Unstoppable which it already had to move away from melee. It scores a critical shot against Horruskh. No damage, though, thanks to the only point of focus camp.

Ilari advances next and shoots Horruskh with his rifle, but doesn't score a crit and is able to remove only four of Orgoth warcaster's health.  Next shot, though... Is a critical, Horruskh is already knocked down and damage roll is exactly 15 points in.

That's what you get for not infiltrating around.

Dominar Wildborne

It was time for monthly game of Warmachine, again over War Table site.

 My list:

Skorne Unlimited
Dominar Rasheth
-Titan Gladiator
-Aradus Sentinel
-Agonizer
Venator Reivers
Tyrant Commander & Standard
Paingiver Beast Handlers
Extoller Soulward

Arcane Forces, Breakthrough, Careful Recon, Infiltration, Power Swell

Opponent had:

Circle Unlimited
Kaya the Wildborne
-Feral Warpwolf
-Winter Argus
-Wild Argus
Cylena Raefyll & Nyss Hunters
Warpborn Skinwalkers
Lord of the Feast
Druid Wilder
Gallows Grove

Power Swell, Blessing of Gods, Breakthrough, Infiltration, True Inspiration

Circle started game, and had arguses on the left with Lord of the Feast and Gallows Grove, both units, Kaya and Wilder in the middle and Feral Warpwolf holding rectangular area with objective.

Rasheth cast Carnivore on Titan Gladiator and wobbled forward, about one walk away from my rectangular objective area that was held by Gladiator and Agonizer. I had Beast Handlers with Infiltration in the middle with Tyrant Commander and Aradus Sentinel contesting circular zone. Extoller Soulward and Venators were going towards flag.

Circle advanced cautiously, with Gallows Grove teleporting to flag and Lord of the Feast hiding behind forest on the left. Warpborn Skinwalkers with Occultation were contesting circular zone, with both argus a little behind. Kaya and Nyss were hugging for cover in open graves templates, and Feral Warpwolf received Infiltration to protect it.

Extoller ran to flag and Venators shot objective off the board. Aradus Sentinel managed to spray one Skinwalker and one Nyss down, and just about the only model realistically in sight for Circle. Tyrant Commander and Beast Handlers were hiding behind the forest. Rasheth got to rectangular zone and continued to proccastigate, while Titan Gladiator and Agonizer just walked for a bit.

And hot damn that Warpwolf still charges far! Fortunately it had to warp for movement to reach Aradus Sentinel, and thus failed to kill. Skinwalkers didn't have a chargeable line for them, so they just walked into melee and got the last remaining six points of damage in with a single strike. Yeah, that's dice -6. Oh well. Happens.

Nyss charged Venators and killed a couple of them.

Both arguses went behind Skinwalker screen, and Kaya called Feral Warpwolf back with Spirit Door. Lord of the Feast missed with his bird and was left awkwardly standing in the open.

Rasheth used his feat and shot Breath of Corruption onto Skinwalkers. One was left with one damage point, another had a few more. Castigate was cast again because there was that scary tree behind a forest.

Tyrant Commander and his sidekick managed to kill Winter Argus, and even Beasthandlers handled the Skinwalker that had a single point of damage left.

Titan Gladiator removed remaining Skinwalker and Lord of the Feast. Agonizer contested enemy flag. Even Venators managed to do some damage to Nyss, although Cylena who was shot down by Extoller Soulward passed her Tough -check retroactively (because we forgot they had True Inspiration on) and as such is missing from the picture.

Skorne took a two point lead.

Nyss Hunters charged Extoller Soulward, but were not able to kill him. Feral Warpwolf had to tear through Venators to secure a control point. Wild Argus and Kaya manage to kill Tyrant Commander, but not the standard. Kaya uses her feat trying to kill Agonizer, which thankfully fails even after Druid Wilder comes to help with Spell Slave.

Kaya teleports away from action, and tides of battle seemed to turn against Skorne, despite looking so good just a turn ago. But, they had lead in victory points.

Extoller shot Cylena dead for a second time, and Rasheth managed to clear the remaining two Nyss with the command card that gave +5" range to spells. Agonizer continued to contest enemy flag, and Tyrant Commander standard ran to contest enemy zone. Paingivers dealt respectable damage in to Argus, but not enough for it to matter.

Game entered a phase of cat and mouse, with both players trying to contest something relevant. Circle did gain the upper hand eventually and started catching up in points, but so was game nearing end. When Feral Warpwolf ran to contest both the circular zone and Rasheth's rectangular zone, it was either draw or victory for Skorne, depending whether Rasheth manages to clear zone. And with Agonizer's animus he did. Close game, and probably the first Mk4 game that ended in rounds running out.

Moderate Damage

Since my Warmachine opponent moved elsewhere, we played a 50 point game using War Table website.

My list:

Orgoth - Sea Raiders

Kishtaar, The Howling Silence - Second Sight & Hex Blast
-Jackal, Arc Node, Hunter Rifle, Pneumatic Spike
-Tyrant, Hunter, Harpoon, Ripper
Reaver Commander
Assault Reavers + Reaver Standard
Strike Reavers
Ulkor Barragers

Command cards: Break Through, Infiltration, Old Faithful, Power Swell, Savagery

Opponent had:

Cygnar Unlimited
Commander Coleman Stryker
-Cyclone
-Defender
2x units of Stormguard Infantry
2x units of Rangers
Field Mechanics
2x Trencher Sniper

Command Cards: Break Through, Blessing of Gods, Old Faithful, Infiltration, Power Swell

Orgoth started the game, and bunched up all of their infantry in the rubble just past their deployment zone in the middle. Jackal and Reaver Commander were going to rectangular zone on left, and Ulkor Barragers and Tyrant were going to right. Kishtaar was lagging behind since she wanted to cast Second Sight on an Ulkor Barrager.

Stryker cast Snipe on Cyclone and Arcane Shield on Defender. Cyclone was going to zone on the left with a sniper and rangers nearby.

Remaining Cygnaran forces were in the middle or going to right, which was a worrying concentration of troops. A ranger or the sniper took a lucky shot at an Ulkor Barrager and killed the thing.

Kishtaars short control range was problematic, and I couldn't advance as far with Jackal as I would have liked. Jackal landed an amazing hit on Cyclone, but unfortunately missed the one gained from Open Fire after I had decided to not use feat this turn yet.

Orgoth infantry managed to thin down enemy troops - at least a unit of Rangers and some random Stormguards were removed. Not enough for me not to suffer next turn. Most notable kill was Tyrant shooting a harpoon through sniper. Yay.

Stryker obviously used feat and wreaked havoc on my infantry. Two Strike Reavers and one Assault Reaver with flag survived. Reaver Commander died as well and one additional Ulkor. Tyrant took a Defender shot, but damage roll was manageable.

Would Kishtaar's feat be enough to offset Stryker's?
To an extent, yes. Kishtaar started my third turn and opened fire with Jackal. She also killed around three Stormguards, which was rather impressive because of that +5 armor.

Despite Kishtaar's feat Jackal wasn't able to land a critical hit on Cyclone with two attempts. Both shots dealt damage, but it started to look dubious that I would remove the heavy jack this turn. I tried my everything, though. I used Break Through card on the two Strike Reavers to get a combined ranged attack against Cyclone, which didn't do much. Even the Reaver Flag was positioned to the front to offer that -1 Arm aura.

Tyrant made a scary activation, where it charged and killed remaining Cygnar infantry models in the middle and took a boosted, feated shot at Cyclone. What a relief it was when damage roll was not one point over the required to destroy the warjack. Thus I managed to open scenario points.

Thanks to Power Swell, Kishtaar had a bank of one focus points. Opponent decided to go for an assassination.

Stryker was not able to knock her down. Damage roll was moderate at best. Then Rangers used Break Through and went to mark Kishtaar, and made exceptional attack rolls. Two out of three attacks hit and dealt moderate damage.

Defender took an aimed, boosted shot at marker Kishtaar and dealt moderate damage after she spent her only focus to block damage.

And still the warcaster was standing! With three health remaining.

Unfortunately one Trencher Sniper was left to activate. And with the last possible attack to make against Kishtaar, Cygnar dealt the killing blow with moderate damage.
